This is my private Open University blog recording the ups & downs of being an Arts student for the first time at age 36. Started in late January 2006, I hope to use this blog to vent my frustrations plus celebrate my triumphs as well as show to other newby OU students that they're not alone!

I'm so tired. I haven't slept a wink...

I must apologise for my recent, longer-than-normal disappearance from the blog but if I am doing penance for my vanishing act it is in my utter exhaustion at present. This last month has been hell in DA204 for me. Not only did I have to make up the 2 week delay to the start of Block 3 because of overrunning work on TMA2, but then I had to accelerate this recovery when a sudden trip abroad meant another delay (there was no way I was going to get peace to work when I went off). Last night after a week's generous extension by the tutor I finally submitted the next TMA. I think it's a crock of shite but it's done and it seems that I might havemade up some time (I think I'm now just a week behind). I've haven't enjoyed Block 3 at all but at least writing the damn assignment wasn't too bad because I did enough each day to keep my enthusiasm going over those 7 extra days to complete it. I had done it all by Monday night and spent yesterday 'tweaking' it to get it under the 1650 word limit (1500 + 10%). When I finally uploaded it at 9:30pm - 2 1/2 hours before the deadline - I was delriously relieved & cracked open the can of beer I'd saved especially from the weekend for its completion. Only today I've realised that I forgot to alphabetise the bibliography references! NOOOOOO!

Also, since my last entry below I've been contacted by someone about this blog who is doing a serious research project on OU courses, students and their blogs. She says she's been reading my work quite a lot of late and would like to use me as a subject. Wow. That came out of the blue! I said that as a fellow student I'd love to help with her work. Least I can do for my only regular 'fan'! Lol.
